Dr. Ashley Hawley grew up in Cochrane, AB and knew she wanted to work with animals from a young age. After high school she went on to attend the University of Calgary where she obtained a BSc in Zoology. She attended veterinary school at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, SK and graduated in 2009. Following this she joined a busy small animal practice in Regina, SK but after a year there decided it was time to move back home to Alberta. She has been practicing small animal medicine in Calgary since 2010. Ashley has always had a special interest in surgery but enjoys the many different aspects of veterinary practice and interacting with pets and pet owners. She is excited to join the team at Bowmont Animal Hospital!
In her free time Ashley enjoys reading, yoga, camping, puzzles and spending time with her husband and daughter. She has a lovely orange tabby named Oscar.

"I have always had a deep love and respect for animals. I remember as a young boy bringing home and “rescuing” everything from dogs and cats to lizards, birds, and insects much to my mother’s chagrin! After spending some time in general practice, I was fortunate to get the opportunity to come to Woodlands Veterinary Hospital & Animal Dental Centre. Woodland’s has provided me with the framework from which I can continue to learn and grow in my pursuit of veterinary excellence. My spare time is spent volunteering for different rescue groups evaluating behaviour in dogs, sitting on the board of directors of several dog related organizations, judging for the Agility Association of Canada and actively competing at the national level in several different dog sports. I look forward to working with you to enhance the relationship between you and your pet while always staying focused on maintaining your pet’s optimum health.

He has been involved with humane society fundraisers, the Calgary Academy of Veterinary Medicine, the Animal Welfare Committee, and the Companion Animal Committee for the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association. With our 3 adult children following their own ambitions, I now spend my spare time with my partner Tatjana and our two cats Joey and Lucy. Raised in Ontario and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1983, I was drawn to the west. After a brief time with a local mixed practice in Ontario, I moved to Calgary, working emergency shifts and day locums while exploring the mountains in my time off.  My wife Tatjana and I started the Westmount Animal Clinic in 1989 and eventually sold it in 2018. After a short transition period/retirement, I am grateful and delighted to be able to see pets again and continue practicing at the Bowmont Animal Hospital.

Dr. Monica Nagy, DVM

Dr. Monica practiced in Calgary for a year before venturing out  to  work and travel in Australia. She spent a year travelling around Austalia enjoying the sun, sand, and practicing veterinary medicine. She returned to Canada in December of 2019 and joined Bowmont Animal Hospital.

During her free time, Monica enjoys hiking, reading and spending time with family and friends. A very important family member is Griff, a mini Aussie with tons of spunk!
